Rebecca Laurin

I am a college student looking to publish some of my poetry. Hawkwind Magazine struck me as a good place to submit due to its open submission guidelines, support of young writers, and newness.

My previous publications include poetry on Planet Tomorrow (a collective writing website), various works in the El Camino Press Myriad, and a short story at Wave Magazine and Fiction Showcase. I've also ventured into journalism and freelance writing, but have found creative writing to hold the true rewards. Currently, I am working on a chapbook of poetry.

I chose "Poetry from the Other Side" as the title for my collection in Hawkwind because, like the great painter Salvador Dali, I believe my imagination is another world I can enter into at any given time. It is my heaven, and sometimes my hell. These poems are part of the inner world I have created.

Aside from writing, I'm the director of daycare at a private school, and enjoy playing the cello, martial arts and films (I'm marrying a film director). In the future, I'd like to help other writers get published, but have no definite plans for that yet.

Rebecca Laurin is actually 22 and at this very moment looking for a more suitable photograph. She sent this photo for use now, saying she is still young at heart.
