SHORT AND TO THE POINT

A Collection of Poetry

STARLIGHT

Playful fingers danced
as creation unfolded.
A star formed
gathered light,
the firmament opened.

SOULS

Cimmerian
catacombs echo
the sounds of rage
as walls ooze
with memories of
long ago torment

PLUNDER

Wolves
protecting
the desolate wilderness
sighted the enemy.
Blood stained revolvers
laughed.

Actuality

Trepidation
strengthened
the reality
that my love is
a jungle of
tangled
imaginings,
yet I find
compelling desire
creeping in.

HATE

With vacant eyes
and madness buried
his redemption denied,
the racist laughed
and found
hateful crowds

Lost

Searching for our love
on the narrow
storm drenched path
all I see are
the muddy footprints
of our mistakes

Tonight

The
watcher waiting
for the heavens
to awaken
was rewarded
by the
Northern Lights

Fate Unknown

Harsh tears
formed in
white hot rage
are concealed
by history's deathly
silence.

CONFLUENT

Isolated rivers meet
a friendship is struck
mental equals merge
darkness separates

  The Weeping Tree

As I softly cry under the willow tree
My tears fall in vain.
No one weeps with me,
As I softly cry under the willow tree.
No future can I see,
For so long I have sadly lain.
As I softly cry under the willow tree,
My tears fall in vain.

  The Galapagos Dump
January 16, 2001

Marine iguanas lie on the rocks unaware
of the dark shadow passing in the distance.
The tanker, Jessica ,
slips through the sea oblivious
of the danger she represents
to these rare creatures.

Run aground, listing sideways, spilling
over two hundred thousand gallons of diesel
into the marine iguana's island sanctuary,
it is called a problem not a tragedy.

The fuel sinks in the churning sea,
to the ocean floor, destroying the algae.
Sea urchins ingest the oil, shudder
and draw in their last breath.

As the marine iguanas climb
over the oil slimed rocks,
long-term damage is assessed.
Those viewing the dead decide
that there is no calamity after all.

Broken, her damage done, Jessica settles
on a shoal to become an artificial reef.
