The
Sailboat
By Katie Lowenstein
They had eaten hors d' oeuvres and
candy
danced to an overture in the moonlight on her decks.
Caught up in their party,
they were oblivious to the approaching storm.
By the time they noticed the water beneath their feet
it was too late.
Their cries for help were lost on the wind,
as the storm surrounded them in all its furry.
There she lays her rich life forgotten.
Visited now only by the lowlife that roam her sandy floors,
a lonely sailboat in the dark depths of the sea.
