ALL IN MY MIND

By David Ruslander

Chapter 5: A rain was falling,

I watched you sip Merlot,
something you wanted,
more than can be said about me.
Suitcase in hand you walked away.
I sat staring at my writing table

and called your name like beads on string,
"Leah, please, Leah, wait".
You stopped, pivoted;
shot me with pitiful eyes
before you walked out the door.

Limp cigarettes in the ashtray,
your lipstick still kissing them,
make me jealous for your lips.

End: Chapter 5

I write my book, trying to
hold her in quotation marks.
