Since its founding, seven ministers have served this church as full-time pastors.

Some 100 prospective members met January 19, 1956, in the chapel
of First Presbyterian with Mr. King (who was later called as Highland's first
pastor) presiding. A Planning Committee of Ten was formed and divided into six
sub-committees. Thereafter, the group began worshiping together at the beautiful,
colonial style Taylor Home. Generously provided by the late D. K. Caldwell,
the Taylor Home housed the congregation for 11 months. It still stands on Chilton
Street, across from Gary Elementary School.
The organization and naming of the new church occurred on the evening of March
18, 1956, when 152 people met at First Presbyterian Church for that purpose.
