HAWKWIND, an online literary journal originating in San Antonio, Texas, was begun in April 2001. All writers are encouraged to submit works to our publication. While we do not pay authors for their works published here, we do offer an outlet and a stage for recognition. New writers are certainly welcome. Religious writings can also find a home here.
We will include a special section for young writers (high school age and under) called First Flights. Our personal observations have shown us that true writing talent often buds at an early age...and it is our sincere hope that publication on our site will serve as the deserved recognition that will motivate young creative minds into literary action. Encourage your children to make submissions to us. Please note the child's age and grade on their submissions.
Our future plans include different types of Writers' Contests during the year, with cash awards. All winning entries will be published on our site, and the authors featured. Details will be forthcoming.
Submission does not guarantee publication. All works must pass our publication policies and guidelines. These guidelines are relatively simple. We want our site to be viewable by the entire family. We will not consider anything pornographic or overtly suggestive in nature. There are already enough sites on the internet for these materials and we choose not to participate in this venue.
Submissions should be made in an electronic format, as an attachment to an email cover letter. We prefer the attachments be Microsoft Word document files, but .txt files or email inclusions will also be considered. Contact us first should you have any questions regarding submission format. We do not accept hardcopy (paper) submissions.
